• Yarn 4/Medium Weight Yarn in…

•4mm Crochet Hook
•20mm safety eyes
•Tapestry needle to weave in ends
•Hot glue (optional)
•Scissors
•Stuffing

This angler fish is super cool and a great toy for anyone who loves sea life! If you want to get extra creative, you could make the ball on his head with glow in the dark yarn so that the ball actually lights up! I used regular yellow yarn, but it would be very cool in glow in the dark yarn 🙂 This pattern is big, but so worth the effort!

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the top lip on as shown and sew or hot glue on. I find that hot gluing this piece on is easier and looks cleaner, but it’s up to you!

Bottom Lip:

In Dark Purple

Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2-17: *Sc* all around (6)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the bottom lip on as shown and sew or hot glue on.

Side Fins: (Make 2)

In Light Purple

Row 1: Ch 9. Sc 3 times in the 2nd Ch from the hook. Sc in the next 6 st. Sc 3 times in the next st. Sc in the next 6 st. SlSt to the next st to complete this round.
Row 2: Ch 1 and turn. Working in the FLO, Sc in the next 8 st, Sc 3 times in the next st, Sc in the next 7 st (18)
Row 3: Ch 1 and turn. Working in the BLO, Sc in the next 8 st, Inc in the next st, Sc in the next 8 st (18)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the fins to the side of the toy fish as shown and sew or hot glue on. Once done, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.

Top and Bottom Fins: (Make 2)

In Light Purple

Row 1: Ch 4. Sc in the 2nd Ch from the hook, Sc in the next 2 st (3)
Row 2: Ch 1 and turn. Working in the FLO, Sc in the next st, Inc in the next st, Sc in the next st (4)
Row 3: Ch 1 and turn. Working in the BLO, Sc in the next 4 st (4)
Row 4: Ch 1 and turn. Working in the FLO, Sc in the next 4 st (4)

Row 2: Ch 1 and turn. Working in the FLO, Sc in the next st, Inc in the next st (3)
Row 3: Ch 1 and turn. Working in the BLO, Inc in the next st, Sc in the next 2 st (4)
Row 4: Ch 1 and turn. Working in the FLO, Sc in the next 2 st, Inc in the next st (4)
Row 5: Ch 1 and turn. Working in the BLO, Sc in the next 4 st (4)

Antenna:

In Light Purple

Take a 9″ pipe cleaner and fold it in half. Twist the end of the pipe cleaner. Now make a slip knot with your hand. Insert your hook into the pipe cleaner (Pic 1). Place the slip knot onto your hook (Pic 2) and pull the slip knot into the pipe cleaner (Pic 3).

Inserting your hook under the pipe cleaner, make single crochets until you meet the end of the pipe cleaner and finish off (Pic 12). Bend the end of the pipe cleaner to secure as shown (Pic 13).

5.6.7.8.9.10.11.12.13.

With your tail end of yarn, sew over this exposed wire. Now pin antenna where shown and sew or hot glue on. Weave in ends.

Ball:

In Yellow

Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Inc* all around (12)
Round 3-6: *Sc* all around (12)
Round 7: *Dec* all around (6)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the remaining stitches closed. Pin the ball onto the tip of the antenna and sew or hot glue on. Weave in ends once done and cut any excess yarn.

Dots: (Make 2)

In Light Purple

Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Inc* all around (12)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the dots on as shown and sew or hot glue on. Done done, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.

  4. Love this guy!! Just crocheting him now and wanted to check – are the eyes between R4 and R5, about 7st apart? And do we stuff the lips? I think the answer is yes to both but just want to make sure!
