Repeat *Yarn over (Pic 1) and insert your hook into the next stitch (Pic 2). Yarn over and pull up a loop (Pic 3-4). Yarn over and pull through two loops on your hook (Pic 5-6).* a total of 3 times.

Body:
Start in main color

Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Inc* all around (12)
Now we will mark where to place the safety eyes. Add a different colored stitch marker into the 4th and 8th stitch in Round 2. Later we will replace these markers with safety eyes.
Round 3: *Inc, Sc in the next st* all around (12)
Round 4: *Inc, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (18)
Round 5: *Sc* all around (18)
Add the eyes into the marked areas now.
Now we will make the color changes in the following rounds. “MC” stands for Main Color. “CC” stands for Contrast Color.
Tip: When changing to the next color, I yarn over with the next color as I complete the last stitch in the color I was working in. For example, if I’m working my last Main Color stitch. I will complete the stitch by yarning over in Contrast Color, and then I will now be working in the Contrast Color yarn.

Limbs: (Make 4)
In Main Color
Cut a pipecleaner to about ~3.5″. Fold it in half. Now make a slipknot using your hands.
1.
2.
3.
Put your hook into the middle where pipecleaner bends (Pic 4). Twist the legs of the pipecleaner together to secure as shown. Then put slip knot on hook (Pic 5). Bring hook towards you (Pic 6). Ch 1.
4.
5.
6.
7.
Insert hook under pipeleaner (Pic 9), yarn over (Pic 10), bring hook to the top of the cleaner (Pic 11), yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook (Pic 12-13). You’ve made a single crochet. Make 5 more single crochets (or until there’s only a small part of the pipecleaner left as shown Pic 15). Finish off (Pic 16).

Bend the end of the pipecleaner over (Pic 16-17), this side is what will be hot glued or sewn to the frog so you won’t see it. If attaching the leg with hot glue, apply the hot glue in a triangle shape as shown (Pic 18). Place the legs where shown and sew or hot glue on. Once done, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn. Done!

Left eyelid:
In Main Color

Row 1: Ch 8. SlSt in the 2nd Ch from the hook. SlSt in the next st. Sc in the next 2 st. SlSt in the next 3 st (7)
Pin this left piece onto the toy’s left eye as shown. Sew or hot glue on. I found hot gluing this piece on easier, just be sure to apply small amounts of hot glue and work in small sections for the best results. I started by unpinning the top right part of the toy’s eyelid, applying a small strip of hot glue onto the back of the toy’s eyelid, then pinning back in place. I then unpinned the lower half of the toy’s eyelid, applied a strip of hot glue onto the toy’s eyelid, and repinned in place until secure.
Right eyelid:
In Main Color

Row 1: Ch 8. SlSt in the 2nd Ch from the hook. SlSt in the next 2 st. Sc in the next 2 st. SlSt in the next 2 st (7)
Pin this left piece onto the toy’s left eye as shown. Sew or hot glue on. If hot gluing on, follow the advice above for cleaner results.
Frown:
In black embroidery thread
Insert needle with thread into the frog where shown, and pull needle out at the right side where shown (Pic 1). Reinsert needle on the left side as shown, and pull needle out at the upper middle area where shown (Pic 2) — when doing this, make sure to have the thread land ABOVE the needle, as this will form the smile (Pic 2). Also make sure to not pull the thread too tight, or else your frown will look less smooth. Now reinsert needle into the same area we just pulled out of, making sure your needle now goes below the thread, and then pull needle out where the other end of thread is (Pic 3). Tie both ends of thread into a firm knot a few times to secure. Then, pull knot inside the toy to hide and cut any excess thread. Done!

OH MY GOSH THEY ARE SO CUTE! I’m going to mass produce these haha! 🩷 I’ll post a pic when I finish some!!
So, as I’m working on this pattern J noticed that I ended up with bumps and my contrast colour all around, even in the bottom. It’s almost like it got twisted because there is a lot of brown on top too at parts. Am I doing something wrong or is something written incorrectly? Also, the stitch count is incorrect in the first few rounds. These frogs are so adorable though 🩷🩷🩷
Sorry, but what you’re calling a popcorn stitch is a cluster stitch. In a popcorn stitch, you make separate dc stitches in the same place, leave your loop up from your last stitch, and go into the first stitch and through that forat stitch, and pull the loop through and close it with a chain stitch. The descrition is correct for the cluster stitch. 😀
