Additional Information:
This marlin is adorable and makes for a perfect gift for a fisherman or anybody who loves the beach! This pattern is easy to make and works up fairly quickly. Using multicolor yarn or crocheting sequins on would make this marlin look even cooler!
Nose:
Start in Black
Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6) Round 2: *Inc, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (8) Round 3: *Sc* all around (8) Round 4-10: Change to white. *Sc* all around (8) Round 11: *Inc, Sc in the next 3 st* all around (10) Round 12: *Sc* all around (10)
Finish off, leaving a tail for weaving in ends.
Mouth:
Start in White
Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6) Round 2: *Inc, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (8) Round 3: *Sc* all around (8) Round 4: Sc in the next 3 st. Align BOTH the mouth and nose stitches together as shown (Pic 1). Going through BOTH stitches (Pic 2), Sc in the next 3 st (Pic 3). Working on the mouth only (Pic 4), Sc in the next 2 st (Stitch count: 5 stitches on the mouth, 7 stitches for the nose, and 3 stitches connecting the two together)
1. 2. 3. 4. Round 5: Now we will work on both the mouth and the nose, ignoring the stitches that connect the mouth and nose. Working on the mouth, Inc, Sc in the next st, Inc.
Working on the nose, Sc in the next st. Repeat *Inc, Sc in the next st* 3 times. Working back on the mouth, Inc in the next st, Sc in the next st (18) Round 6: Repeat *Inc, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (18) Round 7: *Inc, Sc in the next 3 st* all around (24) Round 8: *Inc, Sc in the next 4 st* all around (30)

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the remaining stitches closed and weave in ends.

Crochet around the entire piece, working down the sides, to give a clean finish around. Once you meet the first stitch you made when working around, complete with a slip stitch and weave in ends.
Now attach yellow yarn to the side where shown and crochet 31 stitches down the side. Finish off and weave in ends. Repeat with the other side.
Head Fin:
In Blue
Row 1: Ch 7. Sc in the 2nd Ch from the hook. Sc in the next 5 st (6) Row 2: Ch 1 and turn. Sc in the next 6 st, Ch 3, Sc in the 2nd Ch from the hook, Sc in the next ch. Working back on the row, Sc in the next 6 st (8) Row 3-4: Ch 1 and turn. Sc in the next 8 st (8) Row 5-6: Ch 1 and turn. Sc in the next 6 st (6) Row 7-8: Ch 1 and turn. Sc in the next 4 st (4) Row 9-15: Ch 1 and turn. Sc in the next 3 st (3) Row 16: Ch 1 and turn. Dec 1 time, Sc in the next st (2) Row 17-23: Ch 1 and turn. Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the top fin on as shown and sew or hot glue on. Once done, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.
Small Fins: (Make 2)
In Blue
Row 1: Ch 7. Sc in the 2nd Ch from the hook, Hdc in the next st, Dc in the next 2 st, Trc in the next 2 st (6)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the fins on the top and bottom of the fish as shown and sew or hot glue on. Once done, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.
Arm Fins: (Make 2)
In Blue

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Lightly stuff the last few rounds of the tail. Pin each piece on as shown, one tail at a time, then sew on. Once you’ve sewn on one tail, pin on the other and sew on. Weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.

Super cute pattern, I just started working on it as a gift. I am a bit confused about rounds 5 and 6 on the body. If we’re going from round 5 with 18 stitches, shouldn’t the ending count with the increases in round 6 be higher than 18?
