Mini Kiwi Bird Amigurumi – Free Crochet Pattern

Medium brown and dark brown
•4mm Crochet Hook
•Tapestry needle to weave in ends
•Scissors
•Stuffing
•Hot glue
•6mm Safety eyes

This adorable mini kiwi bird is palm sized, which means this is a super quick project! The head and body are all made in one piece. This pattern is low-sew, since we only need to sew on the legs and beak. Let’s get started!

Body:

Start in Medium Brown Yarn

Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Inc* all around (12)
Round 3: *Inc, Sc in the next st* all around (18)
Round 4: *Inc, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (24)
Round 5: *Sc* all around (24)
Now we will mark where to place the safety eyes. Add a different colored stitch marker into the 12th and 15th stitch in Round 5. Later we will replace these eye markers with safety eyes.
Round 6-7: *Sc* all around (24)
Round 8: Working in the FLO, *Inc, Sc in the next st* all around (36)
Round 9-15: *Sc* all around (36)
Round 16: *Dec, Sc in the next 4 st* all around (30)
Round 17: *Dec, Sc in the next 3 st* all around (24)
Round 18: *Dec, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (18)
Round 19: *Dec, Sc in the next st* all around (12)
Round 20: *Dec* all around (6)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the remaining stitches closed and weave in ends, cutting any excess yarn.

Beak:

In Dark Brown Yarn

Row 1: Ch 7. SlSt in the 2nd Ch from the hook. SlSt in the next 5 st.
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the beak on as shown and sew on. Once done, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.

Legs: (Make 2)

In Dark Brown Yarn

Row 1: Ch 7. SlSt in the 2nd Ch from the hook, SlSt in the next st. Sc in the next 2 st, Hdc in the next 2 st.
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. I created feet by bending the ends of the legs and securing the bent part with a very small dot of hot glue. Once done, pin the feet on as shown and sew on. Weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.
