No-Sew Scrap Dog Amigurumi – Free Crochet Pattern

Free no-sew scrap dog crochet pattern amigurumi

Hello! This week at StringyDingDing, we’re releasing a super cute FREE no-sew scrap dog crochet pattern! This pattern is great if you often stress over sewing pieces on, and it also allows you to create a cute toy in a short span on time. Since this pattern is no-sew, the stitches used are a bit more advanced, so I would recommend you have some experience with amigurumi before attempting this pattern.

This pattern not only creates a generic cute dog – it can be used for lots of different breeds! I’ve included how to make a Beagle, Lab, Golden Retriever, German Shepard, Pug, and Chihuahua. However, you can easily take certain parts of this pattern and modify them to create any breed you’d like. If you’re interested in more scraptacular crochet patterns, check out our additional FREE scrap yarn patterns here!

Let’s get started!
This pattern will show you how to crochet a Beagle, Lab, Golden Retriever, German Shepard, Pug, and Chihuahua. It’s super fun to make them and best of all – there’s no sewing involved! The body, ears, arms, legs, and tail, are all made in one continuous piece! We will first start by making the head and working our way to the body. The ears and arms are worked in during this process by creating special stitches. After this, we will make the tail. Once we’ve completed the body, we will make the collar, which is on the last page. Let’s get started!

Beagle/Lab/Golden Retriever:

For Beagle, start in white. For lab start in yellow or black. For retriever start in gold. To start the dog, we make the head which works into the body. The head, ears, arms/legs, and tail are all made in one piece.

Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: Repeat *Inc, Sc in the next st* all around (9)
Now we will mark where to place the eyes later. Add a differently colored stitch marker into the 4th and 7th stitch in Round 2. We use a different colored stitch marker to make sure we don’t confuse the eye stitch markers for the round stitch markers.
Round 2’s eye stitch markers will look like the photo above
Round 3: For Beagle change to Brown. *Inc* 7 times, Sc in the next 2 st all around (16)
Round 4-5: *Sc* all around (16)
Add safety eyes into the marked areas from Round 2 now. Add nose into between Round 1 and 2.

Round 6: Sc in the next 8 st. In the FLO (Front Loop Only) SlSt in the next st. Ch 6 (Pic 2), Hdc 2 times in the 2nd Ch from the hook. Hdc in the next 4 Ch (Pic 3). 7. I love your patterns but how do you contain the plastic beads so they don’t poke though your work?

  8. Hello! I love this pattern but I’m having some trouble with it. I’m really struggling on Rnd 7 and how did you get the head on your lab to have that inverted bit?

    1. I’m having the same problem as you Maggie. It’s just turning out to be a giant circle head.

  9. I am so confused at round 7, apologies! I’ve been crocheting for around 2 weeks now but I can’t seem to get to the part where you crochet the ear and the head together because I still have stitches to crochet before reaching that part 😵‍💫

For reference it’s round 7 of the golden retriever, I see that in pic 2 there’s still a couple of stitches before you reach the ear but in pic 3 it’s crocheting through the top 2 stitches already I’m so confused do I just crochet until I reach that part??

  10. Hi! Love your patterns!

So I was watching YouTube today and saw a maker talking about stuff she’d made for a book. I recognized the dogs on the cover immediately (I’ve made this pattern many times myself, love it!) It’s your pattern!

I left a bad review on the stolen book and tried to report it but Amazon keeps bringing me in circles and I have to get back to my day so figured I’d comment here to let you know.

It’s call the Big Book of Little Amigurumi. Here’s the link: The Big Book of Little Amigurumi: Make More Of Little Amigurumi To Fill The World With Love: Most Eye-Catching Crochet Little Amigurumi https://a.co/d/7qjYSP4
