Difficulty: Easy
We start by making the bottom of the palm tree and work our way up. We also create indents in the tree by working in the back loop only. After making the tree, we make the big and small leaves. Finally we sew on a smile!

Palm Tree

To start the palm tree we work from the bottom to the top of the tree. We create indents in the tree by working in the back loop only when specified.
Let’s get started!

Palm Tree

In Brown

Round 1: 6 Sc in Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Inc* all around (12)
Round 3: *Inc, Sc* all around (18)
Round 4: *Inc, Sc 2* all around (24)
Round 5: *Inc, Sc 3* all around (30)
Round 6: *Inc, Sc 4* all around (36)
Round 7: *Inc, Sc 5* all around (42)
Round 8: *Inc, Sc 6* all around (48)
Round 9: In the BLO, *Sc* all around (48)
Round 10-14: In BOTH Loops, *Sc* all around (48)
Round 15: In the BLO, *Sc* all around (48)
Round 16-17: In BOTH Loops, *Sc* all around (48)

We will now add 2 eye stitch markers to Round 17. These will mark where to place the eyes later! Place a different colored stitch marker on the 22nd stitch and the 27th stitch in Round 17.

Round 17’s Eye Markers Will Look Like This

Round 18-19: *Sc* all around (48)
Round 20: In BLO, *Sc* all around (48)
Round 21-22: *Sc* all around (48)
Round 23: *Dec, Sc 6* all around (42)
Round 24: In BLO, *Sc* all around (42)
Round 25: *Dec, Sc 5* all around (36)
Round 26-28: *Sc* all around (36)
Round 29: In BLO, *Dec, Sc 4* all around (30)
Add safety eyes in the marked areas from Round 22 now.

Round 30-31: *Sc* all around (30)
Round 32: *Dec, Sc 3* all around (24)
Round 33-34: *Sc* all around (24)
Stuff here. Continue stuffing after each round.

Round 35: *Dec, Sc 2* all around (18)
Round 36: *Sc* all around (18)
Round 37: *Dec, Sc* all around (12)
Change to Green. We are switching to green at the very last round of the palm tree, so when we sew on the leaves it will match the tree better by both of them being the same color at the top.
Round 38: In the BLO, *Dec* all around (6)
Finish off and sew closed. Set aside the tree for now.

Palm Tree Leaves

Now we make the leaves. When we crochet the leaves they will look very pointy, just bend them down to create the droopy leaf look!

  1. Hi there!
I discovered your blog today… I am crocheting the palm tree… following the instructions in the blog… Nice to offer the possibility of trying a pattern before buying more…
I believe the eyes are not in round 22… looking at the pictures… it cannot be… they are after the second BLO round…

  2. Not sure why my comment does not appear…
I am working on the palm tree and I think the eyes are not placed in round 22… looking at your pictures…

    1. Hi Ana!

Thank you so much for your comment! Sorry that your comment didn’t appear for a few days, I have to manually approve comments to make sure spam doesn’t get posted 🙁 So if your comment doens’t appear right away, that’s why!

You are totally right in your comment about the eyes looking like they should be before round 22! I recounted my palm tree and they actually end up in Round 17. I think I accidentally went with my prototype palm tree’s eye placements instead LOL! So I fixed that now 🙂

Thank you a million for letting me know, I truly appreciate it and sorry for that hiccup! I hope your palm tree comes out amazing, I’m sure it will be so cute 😍 I would love to see it!

      1. Hey! NO worries!!! Please!!!
Thank you so much for this super cute pattern… I am preparing a nice picture… and will link to your page… of course!!!
