Rat Amigurumi – Free Crochet Pattern

Additional Information:
•Difficulty: Easy | Total Size: 9″ long from nose to tail. 6.5″ long from the nose to the butt.
This adorable rat is so cute that anyone who looks at it will squeal in a good way! The use of tweed yarn makes the rat look a little more realistic. You can use any color and change colors as you wish to make a totally unique rat! This pattern is easy and the results are so cute!
Body:
In Tweed Yarn
Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Inc, Sc in the next st* all around (9)
Round 3: *Inc, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (12)
Round 4: *Inc, Sc in the next 3 st* all around (15)
Round 5: *Inc, Sc in the next 4 st* all around (18)
Round 6: *Inc, Sc in the next 8 st* all around (20)
Now we will mark where to place the safety eyes. Add a different colored stitch marker into the 4th and 10th stitch in Round 6. Later we will replace these eye stitch markers with safety eyes.
Round 7: *Inc, Sc in the next 9 st* all around (22)
Round 8: *Inc, Sc in the next 10 st* all around (24)
Round 9: *Inc, Sc in the next 11 st* all around (26)
Add safety eyes into the marked areas now.
Round 10-11: *Sc* all around (26)
Round 12: Sc in the next 3 st. Repeat *Dec, Sc in the next 3 st* 3 times. Sc in the next 2 st. Working in the FLO, Inc in each of the next 4 st. Sc in the next 2 st (27)
Round 13: Sc in the next 3 st. Repeat *Dec, Sc in the next 2 st* 3 times. Sc in the next 2 st. Repeat *Inc, Sc in the next st* 4 times. Sc in the next 2 st (28)
Round 14: Sc in the next 3 st. Repeat *Dec, Sc in the next st* 3 times. Sc in the next 2 st. Repeat *Inc, Sc in the next 2 st* 4 times. Sc in the next 2 st (29)
Round 15: Sc in the next 3 st. *Dec* 3 times. Sc in the next 5 st. Repeat *Inc, Sc in the next 5 st* 2 times. Inc in the next st, Sc in the next 2 st (29)

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the remaining stitches closed now and weave in ends. Cut any excess yarn.
Nose Embroidery:
In Light Pink Yarn
Using light pink yarn, embroider the nose at the tip of the nose area.
Once done, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.
Face Shaping:
In Tweed Yarn
Take a long piece of tweed yarn and place it onto a needle. Insert needle into the bottom of the toy‘s head (Pic 1). Pull needle out on the right side of the toy‘s right eye (Pic 2). Reinsert needle to the left of the toy‘s right eye (Pic 3). Pull needle out one stitch to the left of the original insertion spot (Pic 4). Reinsert needle one stitch to the right (Pic 5). Pull needle out at the right side of the toy‘s left eye (Pic 6). Reinsert needle to the left of the toy‘s left eye (Pic 7). Pull needle out where the tail of yarn is coming out of (Pic 8). Pull both ends of yarn at the same time to tighten the face shape. Tie the ends of yarn into firm knots. Bring the knot inside the toy to hide. Cut any excess yarn. Done! Embroider the nose on the tip of the nose area where shown using a plush pink yarn. Once embroidered, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.

Ears: (Make 2)
In Light Pink Yarn
We will work each stitch in Round 1 into a magic ring. Then, we will tighten the magic ring which will form the ear.
Round 1: Make a magic ring. Then, Ch 2. Dc 5 times into the magic ring. Tighten the magic ring to form the ear.
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the ears on as shown now and sew or hot glue on. Once done, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.
Arms: (Make 2)
In Tweed Yarn
Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Sc* all around (6)
Round 3: *Inc, Sc in the next st* all around (9)
Round 4-5: *Sc* all around (9)
Round 6: Turn. Sc in the next 4 st, SlSt in the next st. This will leave one part of the arm higher than the other.
Finish off now, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the arms on so the higher part of the arm (the last 4 stitches we made in Round 6) are facing the outside of the rat, and the other lower stitches are facing the inside of the rat. This will make the arm look cleaner! Once done, sew on and be sure to add stuffing before fully sewing on. Then, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.
Paws for Arms: (Make 2)
In Light Pink
We will work each stitch in Round 1 into a magic ring. Then, we will tighten the magic ring which will form the paw.
Round 1: In a magic ring: Sc 2, Repeat *Ch 2, Sc in the 2nd Ch from the hook, SlSt back into the magic ring* 3 time. Sc 2 times into the magic ring. Tighten the magic ring to form the paw. Finish off. Pin the paws onto the bottom of the toy’s arms and sew or hot glue on. Once done, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.
Legs: (Make 2)
In Tweed Yarn
Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Inc* all around (12)
Round 3-4: *Sc* all around (12)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the legs on as shown and sew on, making sure to add stuffing before fully sewing on. Once done, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.
Feet for Legs: (Make 2)
In Light Pink Yarn
We will work each stitch in Round 1 into a magic ring. Then, we will tighten the magic ring which will form the paw.
Round 1: In a magic ring: Sc 2, Repeat *Ch 2, Sc in the 2nd Ch from the hook, SlSt back into the magic ring* 3 time. Sc 2 times into the magic ring. Tighten the magic ring to form the paw. Finish off. Pin the paws onto the bottom of the toy’s arms and sew or hot glue on. Once done, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.
Tail:
In Light Pink
Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2-14: *Sc* all around (6)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the tail on as shown now and sew on. Once sewn on, weave in ends and cut any excess yarn.

I’m a bit confused – the pattern for the hind paws are the same as the front paws and do not match the picture.
