Bat Pattern

Supplies:
4mm crochet hook. 4/Medium weight yarn in any color, and white. Black embroidery thread. 8mm safety eyes. Stuffing. Scissors. Tapestry needle.

Additional Information:
Difficulty: Easy
“Main Color” in this pattern refers to the main color you will use to make your bat. I used purple for one, and green for another.
We start by making the bat’s head which works into the body as one piece. We then create the ears, wings, and feet. After sewing those on, we finally make the cute smile!

Round 1: 6 Sc in Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Inc* all around (12)
Round 3: *Inc, Sc* all around (18)
Round 4: *Inc, Sc 2* all around (24)
Round 5: *Inc, Sc 3* all around (30)
Round 6-8: *Sc* all around (30)
Round 9: Sc in next 12 st. Sc in next st and add different colored St marker. This marks where we will place the eye. Sc in next 5 St. Sc in next St and add different colored St marker. Sc in next 11 St (30)


Round 10-12: *Sc* all around (30)
Round 13: *Dec, Sc 3* all around (24)
Round 14: *Dec, Sc 2* all around (18)
Round 15: *Dec, Sc* all around (12)
Round 16: *Inc* all around (24)
Round 17: *Inc, Sc 3* all around (30)
Round 18-19: *Sc* all around (30)
Stuff head here. Add in eyes in marked areas.


Round 20-24: *Sc* all around (30)
Round 25: *Dec, Sc 3* all around (24)
Round 26: *Dec, Sc 2* all around (18)
Round 27: *Dec, Sc* all around (12)
Stuff here


Round 28: *Dec* all around (6)
Finish off and add any additional stuffing. Sew closed.

Ears: (Make 2)

In Main Color

Round 1: Ch 4. Sc in 2nd Ch from hook. Dc in next st, Trc in next st.
Finish off and pin to the head of the bat.

Feet: (Make 2, Optional)

In Main Color

Round 1: Ch 3. Dc in 2nd Ch from hook. Dc in next st, SlSt in same St.
Finish off and pin to the head of the bat bottom of the bat.

Wings: (Make 2)

In Main Color

Round 1: Ch 11. Sc in 2nd Ch from hook. *Dc in next St, Trc in next St, Dc in next St, Sc in next st* 2 times, Sc in next st. Now turn to the other side of the Ch.
Round 2: Sc in next 4 St, Inc in next 2 st, Sc in last 4 st
Round 3: Turn, Sc in next 4 st, inc in next 4 st, Sc in last 4 st
Finish off and pin each wing to the back or side of the bat.

Assembly:

Have ears and wings pinned on as shown. Sew on now.

Smile Assembly:

In Black Embroidery Thread

Insert needle slightly below and in the middle of the eyes, then pull out needle diagonal to the left (Pic 1). Reinsert needle in the original area, pulling needle out diagonal to the right (Pic 2). Reinsert needle into original middle area and pull thread through (Pic 3). Switch to white yarn and insert into the side smile area (Pic 5). Insert needle about 1 stitch below and pull (Pic 6). Repeat to opposite side.
