• Yarn colors in 4/Medium Weight OR 1/Fingering Yarn…
Any Color for Trash Bag, Contrast Color for Smile
• 4mm Crochet Hook for size 4 yarn, or use 3mm hook if using size 1 yarn
•10mm safety eyes (Use 12mm is using size 4 yarn)
Finished Size: 3.5″
Pattern is in US Terms
We will start by making the bottom of the trash bag. We first make a foundation chain and work completely around the chain to form a round.
Note about yarn…
I used size 1 cotton yarn to make a smaller, cleaner looking amigurumi. However, you can use regular size 4/Medium weight yarn with a 4mm hook! The pattern will work out exactly the same, only difference being the trash bag would come out bigger.
Let’s Get Started
We will start by making a foundation chain. We will work completely around the chain in a round to form an oval shape.

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Fold the piece in half (Pic 2). Cross the ends to make a circle (Pic 3). Pull the tie from the back through the circle (Pic 4). Pull both ends to tighten (Pic 5). Pin this piece on top of the trash bag and sew on with the long tail we left (Pic 6).
Trash Bag Smile:
Use black string for white trash bag
Use white string for black trash bag
Insert needle close to the right eye and pull out one stitch right to the left eye Pic 1. Reinsert needle 2 stitches over and pull out 1 stitch down, middle area Pic 2. Pull the thread through, making sure the thread lands ABOVE the smile yarn. Reinsert into the same stitch, but BELOW the smile yarn and pull out at the original insertion spot Pic 4-5. Tie ends of thread into firm knots and bring into the wreath to hide. Cut any excess yarn.
Note: Adding blush is a cute touch! Use either makeup or a very small amount of paint with a soft brush and go in small circles to make the blush.
All done! I hope you liked this pattern 🙂 If you made it, add a photo of yours in the comments below this post! You can also “try” it on Pinterest.
