• Yarn 4/Medium Weight in:
Black and dark yellow
•4mm Crochet Hook
•Tapestry needle
•Scissors
•Stuffing
•12mm safety eyes

Size: From his butt to the tip of the ears, he is 11″ tall.
Let’s get started!
This big cuddly bear is really fun to make! His big size makes him perfect for a big toy for kids. He would also be a fantastic baby gift, if you sew on yarn eyes of course! To make a cute baby gift from this bear, use a light blue/pink on the hands and feet, then do a dark blue/pink for the main color of the body, head, arms and legs. Let’s get started! To make this bear we will start by creating the head, ears, nose. Then we will do the body, arms, and legs.

 

Head:

In dark yellow

Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Inc* all around (12)
Round 3: *Inc, Sc in the next st* all around (18)
Round 4: *Inc, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (24)
Round 5: *Inc, Sc in the next 3 st* all around (30)
Round 6: *Inc, Sc in the next 4 st* all around (36)
Round 7: *Inc, Sc in the next 5 st* all around (42)
Round 8: *Inc, Sc in the next 6 st* all around (48)
Round 9-17: *Sc* all around (48)
Round 18: *Dec, Sc in the next 6 st* all around (42)
Round 19: *Dec, Sc in the next 5 st* all around (36)
Round 20: Change to black. In the FLO, repeat *Inc, Sc in the next 5 st* all around (42)
Now we will mark where to place the eyes. Add a different colored stitch marker into the 20th and 25th stitch in Round 20.
Round 21: In BOTH loops, repeat *Inc, Sc in the next 6 st* all around (48)
Round 22: *Inc, Sc in the next 7 st* all around (54)
Round 23: *Inc, Sc in the next 8 st* all around (60)
Round 24: *Inc, Sc in the next 9 st* all around (66)
Add the eyes into the marked areas now.
Round 25-36: *Sc* all around (66)
Round 37: *Dec, Sc in the next 9 st* all around (60)
Round 38: *Dec, Sc in the next 8 st* all around (54)
Round 39: *Dec, Sc in the next 7 st* all around (48)
Round 40: *Dec, Sc in the next 6 st* all around (42)
Round 41: *Dec, Sc in the next 5 st* all around (36)
Round 42: *Dec, Sc in the next 4 st* all around (30)
Stuff the head after each round.
Round 43: *Dec, Sc in the next 3 st* all around (24)
Round 44: *Dec, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (18)
Round 45: *Dec, Sc in the next st* all around (12)
Round 46: *Dec* all around (6)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the remaining stitches closed, then weave in ends

Ears: (Make 2)

In black

Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Inc* all around (12)
Round 3: *Inc, Sc in the next st* all around (18)
Round 4: *Inc, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (24)
Round 5: *Inc, Sc in the next 3 st* all around (30)
Round 6: In the BLO, repeat *Dec, Sc in the next 3 st* (24)
Round 7: In BOTH loops, repeat *Dec, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (18)
Round 8: *Inc, Sc in the next st* all around (12)
Round 9: *Dec* all around (6)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the remaining stitches together, then weave the yarn to where we left the front loop exposed in Round 6. We will use this tail end of yarn to sew the ears to the toy’s head. Pin the ears on as shown and sew on. Once done, weave in ends.

Nose:

In black

Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6)
Round 2: *Inc* all around (12)
Round 3: *Inc, Sc in the next st* all around (18)
Round 4: *Inc, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (24)
Round 5: Fold the circle in half so the stitches align as shown (Pic 2). Inserting your hook through BOTH stitches (Pic 3), SlSt in the next 5 st, Sc in the next st, SlSt in the next 5 st.
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the nose on as shown and sew on. Once sewn on, do not cut the yarn.

Insert needle where shown (Pic 1). Insert needle into the bottom of the toy’s nose (Pic 2). The nose will look as shown (Pic 3). Tie the tail ends of yarn into firm knots and bring the knot into the toy to hide. Cut excess yarn.

Stuff the arm firmly now, but do not stuff the last few rounds of the arm. This will help make the arm lay more flat where it meets the body.
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the arm on as shown and sew on. Once done, weave in ends.
