How to make a crab stitch

Making a crab stitch is simply making 1 single crochet into the next stitch to your right. Insert your hook into the next stitch to your right (Pic 1-3).

1. 2. 3.

Yarn over, and pull the yarn through (Pic 4-6). You will have two loops on your hook (Pic 6).

4. 5. 6.

Yarn over and pull through both loops (Pic 7-9). You have completed 1 crab stitch! Repeat making 1 crab stitch all around until you’ve completed a round.

7. 8. 9.10.

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the first and last stitch together to complete, then weave in the ends. Tie the ends of yarn into firm knots inside the bucket, then cut any excess yarn. Make the smile for the bucket following the instructions below.

Follow the smile instructions earlier on this page. Use those instructions to make the smile on the bowl. Done!

  1. Hello! I have a question about the drumstick: in round 1 it says 6 sc in MR (6) but round two says Inc, sc all around (8) but wouldn’t it equal 9? I’m very new to crochet so I want to make sure I’m understanding that pattern correctly.

    Thank you!

    1. your right. there must be a mistake in pattern. but you are understanding it right. 🙂

      1. Thank you for letting me know it’s not me and I’m understanding correctly 😅
