Information before starting

Hook Size: 4mm

Safety eyes

Stuffing

Yarn in colors: Light blue, Dark blue, Neon blue, Off white, White, Purple, Orange, Black, Coral, Light green, and Dar green.

 

Head in white

Round 1: In blue, 6 sc in magic ring (6)

Round 2: *inc* in every st (12)

Round 3: *inc, sc* around (18)

Round 4: *inc, 2 sc* around (24)

Round 5: *inc, 3 sc* around (30)

Round 6: *inc, 4 sc* around (36)

Round 7: *inc, 5 sc* around (42)

Round 8: *inc, 6 sc* around (48)

Round 9: *inc, 7 sc* around (54)

Round 10: *inc, 8 sc* around (60)

Round 11: *inc, 9 sc* around (66)

Round 12: *inc, 10 sc* around (72)

Round 13-20: *sc* around (72)

Round 21: *dec, sc 10* around (66)

Round 22-32: *sc* around (66)

Round 33: *dec, sc 9* around (60)

Round 34: *dec sc 8 * around (54)

Finish off and stuff firmly. Add in safety eyes and sew on cheeks and mouth.

Bottom Part:

Now we create a bottom of the octopus and will sew it on to close the octopus.

Round 1: In blue, 6 sc in magic ring (6)

Round 2: *inc* in every st (12)

Round 3: *inc, sc* around (18)

Round 4: *inc, 2 sc* around (24)

Round 5: *inc, 3 sc* around (30)

Round 6: *inc, 4 sc* around (36)

Round 7: *inc, 5 sc* around (42)

Round 8: *inc, 6 sc* around (48)

Round 9: *inc, 7 sc* around (54)

Round 10: *inc, 8 sc* around (60)

Finish off and make sure bottom part fits into octopus as so. If bottom part doesn’t fit octopus, please continue above pattern on *inc, x sc*.

It should look like this.

Now sew together. Stitches don’t need to be sewn together exactly, as stitch count for each piece will be different.

Tenticles:

Tenticle 1: In medium purple, ch 50. 3 dc in each ch across. Tenticle will start to curl. Once done with 3 dc in each st, finish off and twist tenticle. This will make it curlier. Do this for each tenticle.

Tenticle 2: In dark blue, ch 80. 3 dc in each ch across. Finish off and twist tenticle.

Tenticle 3: In multiple color purple, ch 70. 3 dc in each ch across. Finish off and twist tenticle.

Tenticle 4: In multiple color purple, ch 60. 2 Sc in each ch across. Don’t twist.

Tenticle 5: In light blue, ch 60. 3 dc in each ch across. Finish off and twist tenticle.

Tenticle 6: In light blue, ch 60. 2 Sc in each ch across. Don’t twist.

Pin tenticles to the bottom of the octopus but don’t sew on yet.

Sea life:

Seaweed:

Row 1: Ch 56. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and sc in next 3 ch, *hdc in next 2 st, dc in next 3 st, hdc in next 2 st, sc in next 3 st* 2 times. Hdc in next 4 st, Dc in next 5 st, Trc in next 4 st, Dc in next 3 st, Hdc in next 5 st.

Now ch 1 and turn to other side of ch. Hdc in next 5 st, Dc in next 3 st, Trc in next 4 st, Dc in next 5 st, Hdc in next 4 st. *Sc in next 3 st, Hdc in next 2 st, Dc in next 3 st, Hdc in next 2 st* 2 times. Sc in last 4 st.

In dark green, sew a line down the middle. In green, attatch hook to top of seaweed. Ch as long as you want your seaweed to hang and pin to botton of octopus.

Clown Fish:

Round 1: In orange, 4 sc in magic ring (4)

Round 2: *inc* all around (8)

Round 3: *sc* all around (8)

Round 4: *inc, 1 sc* all around (12)

Round 5: Switch to black and *sc* around (12)

Round 6: Switch to white and *inc, 2 sc* around (16)

Round 7: Switch to black, sc around (16)

Round 8-12: Switch to orange and sc around (16)

Round 13: Switch to black, sc around (16)

Round 14: Switch to white, *dec, sc 2* around (12)

Round 15: Switch to black and sc around (12)

Stuff at this point

Round 16: Switch to orange, *dec, sc 1* around (8)

Round 17: *sc* around (8)

Round 18: *dec* all around (8)

Finish off and add any additional stuffing.

Tail:

Row 1: In orange ch 4. Turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook and add st marker. Sc in next 2 st. Turn to other side of ch and sc 3 across (6)

Row 2: Sc across (6)

Row 3: *inc* in first st, sc in next 2 st, inc in next st, sc in next 2 st (8)

Row 4: Switch to black and sc around (8)

Finish off and sew closed. Pin to the end of the fish.

Fins: Make 2

Row 1: In orange 4 sc in magic ring (4)

Row 2: *Inc* all around (8)

Row 3: *sc* around (8)

Finish off and sew closed. Pin to sides.

Now sew on pieces. Add in small safety eyes or embroider eyes. Attach hook to top of fish. In blue, ch as long as you want your fish to hang. Pin to bottom of octopus.

Shell:

Round 1: In off white/tan, ch 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in next 6 st, turn to other side of ch and sc 7 across. (14)

Round 2: Sc around in BLO (back loop only) (14)

Round 3: Inc in first st, sc in next 6 st, inc in next st, sc in last 6 st (16)

Round 4: *sc* around (16)

Round 5: Inc in next 2 st, sc in next 6 st, inc in next 2 st, sc in last 6 st (20)

Round 6: *Sc* around (20)

Round 7: Sc in first st, inc in next 3 st, sc in next 7 st, inc in next 3 st, sc in last 6 st (26)

Round 8-10: Sc around (26)

Round 11: Sc in next 2 st, dec 3 times, sc in next 7 st, dec 3 times, sc in last 5 st (20)

Round 12: Sc in next 2 st, dec 2 times, sc in next 6 st, dec 2 times, sc in last 4 st (16)

Round 13: Sc in next 3 st. Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing. Stuff lightly. Take white yarn and sew on a few white lines to make shell lines. Be sure to pull on white string to make shell indents.

Now attatch hook to top of shell. In grey, ch as long as you want you shell to hang. Finish off and pin to botton of octopus.

Starfish:

Row 1: In coral color. 6 sc in magic ring (6)

Row 2: *inc* all around (12)

Row 3: Sc in first st, ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next 2 st, dc in next 2 st, trc in last st. Skip 1 st and sc in last st.

*Ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next 2 st, dc in next 2 st, trc in last st. Skip next st and sc in next st.* 4 times.

Finish off. Attatch purple yarn to top of starfish and ch as long as you want your starfish to hang.

Assembly:

Now sew in each hanging object. You’re done!
