These cute citrus buddies will sweeten up anybody’s day! This is an easy and quick pattern which involves no sewing – everything is crocheted together or crocheted on! We do embroider on the smile and white citrus detail, but that is very easy. This is a great pattern if you’re looking to make a lot of amigurumis quickly.
Let’s get started!
Citrus:
Start in lighter main color
Round 1: 6 Sc into a Magic Ring (6) Round 2: *Inc* all around (12)
Now we will mark where to place the safety eyes. Add a different colored stitch marker into the 5th and 10th stitch in Round 2. Later we will add eyes in these marked areas. Round 3: *Inc, Sc in the next st* all around (18) Round 4: *Inc, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (24) Round 5: Change to white. *Inc, Sc in the next 3 st* all around (30)
When you snip off the white yarn, leave a very long tail. We will use this tail to sew on the embroidery of the citrus.
Add the eyes into the marked areas now. Round 6: Change to Darker Main Color. *Inc, Sc in the next 4 st* all around (36) Round 7: Working in the Back Loop Only, *Sc* all around (36) Round 8: *Sc* all around (36) Round 9: *Dec, Sc in the next 4 st* all around (30) Round 10: *Dec, Sc in the next 3 st* all around (24) Round 11: *Dec, Sc in the next 2 st* all around (18) Round 12: *Dec, Sc in the next st* all around (12) Round 13: *Dec* all around (6)
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the remaining stitches together and weave in ends. Cut any excess yarn.
Embroidery:
In White
Place the long tail of white yarn onto a needle. Reinsert needle into the same stitch (Pic 1). Pull needle out at the top middle of the citrus as shown (Pic 2).

Reinsert needle in the bottom middle as shown (Pic 3). Pull needle at the left as shown (Pic 4).
3. 4.
Reinsert needle into the right side (Pic 5). Pull needle out at the left area as shown (Pic 5). Reinsert needle into the right area as shown (Pic 6).
5. 6.
Pull needle out at the left area as shown (Pic 7). Reinsert needle out at the top right area as shown (Pic 7).

Arms:
In Darker Main Color
Insert crochet hook into the top left area of the citrus as shown (Pic 1). Yarn over with main color yarn and pull the yarn through (Pic 1). Ch 6 (Pic 2). Tie a knot at the very end of the chain and cut the excess yarn (Pic 3). Tie the other tail end of yarn into a firm knot, then bring the knot inside the citrus, cutting any excess yarn.
Repeat this for the right arm.

Legs:
In Darker Main Color
This is done similar to how we do the arms. Insert crochet hook into the bottom left area of the citrus as shown (Pic 1). Yarn over with main color yarn and pull the yarn through (Pic 1). Ch 5. Tie a knot at the very end of the chain and cut the excess yarn. Tie the other tail end of yarn into a firm knot, then bring the knot inside the citrus, cutting any excess yarn.
Repeat this for the right leg.
1. 2.
Smile:
In Black Embroidery Thread
Insert needle into the middle lower area of the citrus (Pic 1). Note that you may need to put the needle into the middle white stripe, which is fine! Pull needle out next to the toy’s left eye (Pic 1).
1.
Reinsert needle into the original middle area (Pic 2) and pull needle out next to the toy’s right eye (Pic 2). Reinsert needle into the middle area (Pic 3). Tie ends of yarn into firm knots and bring the knots inside the toy to hide. Cut excess yarn.
